THE SETTING

The project in context.

This car parking canopy at Emdep Pvt. Ltd. in Chakan sits alongside an industrial campus building. The two portfolio photographs show a curved fabric roof over a paved parking strip, with the building, boundary wall and landscaping forming the surrounding context. The different angles make the roof edge and supporting arrangement visible.

A CLOSER LOOK

Form & arrangement.

Working with a linear parking area

The roof follows the paved strip beside the building and boundary wall. Its repeated bays give the covered area a continuous outline along this edge of the campus.

Curved roof, open sides

The light-coloured membrane curves over the parking area, while the sides remain open. The photographs show how the canopy sits within the existing arrangement of paving, planting and buildings.

Two angles on the support system

The overview and side photograph reveal the frame below the fabric and its relationship to the parking surface. These views are useful references when discussing support placement on a similar site.

YOUR SPACE, YOUR BRIEF

Planning a similar project?

For a parking shade brief, share the bay layout, vehicle types, turning space and any underground services near proposed columns. The position of supports should be considered together with doors opening, pedestrian routes and vehicle access.
